Tamarack Facilities

1,500 Private Wooded Acres: With this vast private area, the surrounding woods, lakes and trails make Camp Maas a peaceful, serene and secluded wilderness setting for all camp activities.

Villages @ Camp MaasJunior Side Villages (entering 2nd-5th grades): Shiffman, Applebaum, Deroy and Fishman Villages make up Junior Side. Bathrooms and counselors quarters are available in each cabin. Each village has a central lodge for groups to meet and play. Showers are available either in the cabin or centrally located in the lodge.

Senior Side Villages (entering 6th – 9th grades): Sheruth, Levison, Berman, Hermelin, Ruach, Pioneer and Specialty make up Senior Side. Bathroom and shower facilities are located in the main lodge for each village. With the older campers, counselors have separate accommodations to help promote growth and independence within the bunk.

Radin Lake
: Centrally located to all villages. Water-skiing, tubing, body boarding, sailing, kayaking and more can all be found on this spacious and private lake. Swimming, fishing and a variety of water toys such as the Blob and the Iceberg provide hours of fun, skill development and recreation. Junior Side and Senior Side each have their own beach and boat docks.

Athletic FacilitiesAthletic Facilities: Three athletic fields, playground, two regulation-sized softball diamonds, two regulation soccer fields, three regulation sized basketball courts (two are lighted), four tennis courts, 1/8 mile running track, mountain bike trails and two outdoor floor hockey rinks all provide ample opportunity for sports and recreation.

Multi-Use

Grand Multi-Use Facility
: This modern facility houses a covered gymnasium and pool, which has been a wonderful addition for our sports and gymnastics program. This facility also provides additional space for instructional swim and fun theme day or rainy day activities.

Mahler Equestrian Center: Whether it’s a corral session, trail ride or a horseback riding overnight, the equestrian program at Maas offers something for everyone.

Equestrian and Adventure
R.O.P.E.S./Adventure Challenge Course
: Facilities include an extensive set of group obstacles, a rock climbing structure, a Zip-Line across the lake and two high ropes courses. Campers may focus on a variety of goals, including improved teamwork, leadership, communications skills, increased self-confidence, and a heightened awareness of the potential and strength of individual members.

Smokler Pioneer Skills Center: Olde-tyme fun at our petting zoo, log cabins, barns, country kitchen, general store, museum, one-room schoolhouse, maple syrup shack and other pioneer structures make this turn of the century replica a favorite.

Nachman Environmental Education Center:  Nature exhibits and unusual animals make our nature center a hit with kids of all ages. Environmental programs, stargazing, berry picking and Judaic content are all combined into fun outdoor activities at our “Teva” center.

Tamarack Lake: This shallow lake and its marsh are home to many small animals and water birds. A nature trail allows easy access for fun programs like “Life in a Log”, catching toads and our famous Swamp Walk!

Arts & CraftsBargman Junior and Senior Arts & Crafts Centers: Located for easy access to each side of camp, these two arts & crafts centers keep campers busy with activities like ceramics, wood working, tie-dye, paper maché, lanyards, copper enamel and toe-weaving.

Mahler Dining Hall: Our new Sara & Irving Mahler Dining Facility is located in the center of camp, easily accessible to all groups. All food is kosher and under Rabbinic supervision. Our camp follows a “No Nut” policy.

Tamarack Clinic:  Built in 2002, this state of the art air-conditioned medical facility our 2 physicians, 3 registered nurses and various clinic assistants are on duty 24 hours a day. The caring and nurturing staff distribute daily meds as well as check on the well being of all staff and campers.

Charfoos Administration Building: The center of our busy summer happens here! Friendly and attentive staff will work diligently throughout the day to make sure mail, phone calls, faxes, email and all daily business get taken care of promptly and efficiently.

Trips & Campfires
Trip Center:
Getting ready to travel north, south, east or west, Trip Center and its staff are the heart and soul of our tripping program. From here the campers prepare for their overnight, cookout, backpacking or canoeing trips ranging from 1 to 4 nights.

Campfire Sites: Who doesn’t like campfire stories and S’mores? Located in close proximity to every village unit, our campfire pits are used for cookouts, story time and campfire fun and relaxation.

Go-CartsGo-Kart Track: This ¼ mile track and 10 go-carts provide our older campers the opportunity to learn a new skill and have fun at the same time. The track and go-carts are inspected throughout the day and our trained staff keeps a diligent watch over the track to ensure a safe time for all.

Barnett Mass Media Building:
Whether it’s digital photography, computer enhancing or making a video, campers love the creative opportunities available at our Multi Media Center.

Allen Amphitheater: Open air stage where many plays, skits and talent shows are presented. Excellent acoustics.

Views from the AmpitheatreZaks Amphitheatre: This open-air stage has Radin Lake as its backdrop. Perfect for welcoming Shabbat, Havdalah and other all camp ceremonies and presentations. This scenic and magical spot is one of the “best views” in camp!

Sydney & Melba Weiner Dance Barn: Jazz, modern or tap, those dancin’ feet always keep the beat at various presentations, recitals and village dances throughout the summer. Girls entering 6th grade can specialize in Dance City where they will produce their own show at the dance barn and visit Interlaken for the Arts.
