Summer Programs > Camp Maas

Tamarack has been my daughter’s summer home for so many years now. We are both very thankful that she’s had so many wonderful years there. Every summer at camp has helped tremendously to define and enhance her Jewish identity.

My daughter Mollie absolutely LOVES Tamarack. I don’t think she could ever be persuaded not to go! She just got back from her second session at camp and is already looking forward to next summer. Thank you so much

Camp Tamarack was an incredible experience for our daughter who attended and for the entire family. We all experienced her happiness, higher self-esteem, joy in Jewish life and independence when she came home. I am so grateful to everyone who touched her life in such positive ways while she was at Camp Maas and, especially, to the Fresh Air Society, who provided financial aid and helped us make this wonderful experience possible. As a single mother of two, raising Jewish children in an environment that is mostly non-Jewish, every opportunity to teach Jewish values, religion, history and tradition is something I cherish…but none like I do my child’s Tamarack experience. Thank you.

Danielle had an incredible experience! Sharing her Jewish culture and heritage, and enjoying Shabbat – how special you make it there! It was such a positive experience for her. She also did lots of things she never tried before: waterskiing, knee boarding, kayaking, the canoeing overnight, etc. She has been glowing since camp. One HUGE highlight was the horseback riding program – she got to spend lots of time grooming and riding the horses. Being rewarded with the horseback riding overnight was the highlight of her summer.

Dear Mom and Dad, i got to camp i have the best tim of mi lif

I literally wake up everyday of the year thinking about camp. Tamarack
has become my life; the friends I made have become the people I talk
to daily and the friends who I can always rely on. Going to camp
has not only become simply a fun way to spend my summers, but I learn
about myself, my limits, my strengths and I push myself farther. One of
my favorite parts of camp is Havdalah, with its songs and camp traditions,
and the smiles that are undeniably on every single person's face. Hiking
and canoeing have found their ways onto my list of hobbies, and my Agree
journal to my most commonly read book. I love camp with all my heart,
and I can proudly say that I know there are only 110 days until my Western
trip.

Camp. What could I say about camp? I can name some synonyms like second home, family, great place, but I could never describe such a wonderful experience with mere words. I remember trips, great campfires, and most of all I remember the ONEG's. Every Friday night we have those amazing song sessions where we would sing all the classic camp Shabbat songs, such as Miriam’s Song. Counselors were another great part of camp. I remember most of all the last day, finding myself crying and wishing I could stay longer. In summary, camp is great and I love it. I'm sure I will always find myself returning back to Camp Maas.

I went to Tamarack for four years now. Every year I have come home with a ton of new friends. Most of the buddies I've made there are from somewhere around the West Bloomfield area, and I, being from Tucson AZ, still love to keep in touch with them. Many of the people I meet there are from all over the world. I have met people from England, Canada, Israel, & even some from Australia and New Zealand. It has always cool for me knowing that I am friends with people from all over the world & the United States. Every year I come home & have some great stories to tell about Tamarack Camps.
